Challenge
Facing a high volume of online business orders, a major logistics company realized they had to change the fulfillment process for delivery requirements. Labor costs and resources needed to be carefully managed, and a new intelligent logistics business model needed to be introduced. The new model needed to supplement the workforce with intelligent devices, so total control and monitoring could be enabled through the implementation of cloud services.
Solution
Advantech provided an Arm-based EPC-R4680 embedded box PC powered by the Rockchip Arm Cortex-A17 RK3288 Quad Core processor with high performance and 4K display. This solution provided a HDMI+VGA dual display with different content for human-machine interface and plentiful I/O such as 5 USB2.0, 1 USB OTG, 6 UART, Giga Ethernet, and 8 GPIO—making the system highly expandable for control cabinets, scanners, cameras, network connectivity, and future proofing. It supported a wide range of operating temperatures for guaranteed stable operation in semi-outdoor environments.
Effective Data Mining and Information Analysis
EPC-R4680 played a key role in the express locker for both cabinet control and data acquisition. All data generated during a transaction, including information on online shoppers and sellers, shipment contents, shipping methods, and the routes went back to the cloud, and, through an effective data mining analyzer, were reused in a variety of ways. The high computing capability analyzed and processed the data, transferred it into valuable information, and synchronized it to the cloud database. In doing so, ECP-R4680 helped empower intelligent logistic solutions and improve the ecommerce sector.
